Drinking Tomato Juice to Lower Blood Pressure
Looking for ways to lower your risk of heart disease? Cardiovascular disease is on the rise and is the leading cause of death in the US. A new study published in the journal Food Science & Nutrition found that drinking a cup of tomato juice a day could help. No, they aren’t talking about canned vegetable juice with added sodium. Actual tomato juice was used for this experiment. Tomatoes contain vitamin A, carotenoid, and calcium. All of which are believed to aid in both psychological and physical health. The participants in the study saw a decrease in blood pressure. On average they experienced a systolic decrease of 4 points and diastolic decrease of 3 points.
